Welcome to
Chabad Escondido

WE’RE ON A MISSION

We provide the Jewish community of Escondido with a warm, joyous, and loving environment in which to explore all things Jewish, no matter their backgrounds or affiliations. At Chabad Escondido, everyone is welcome!

TAKE PART IN BRINGING THAT VISION TO LIFE

We aim to build a space that feels like home and a group that feels like family. We foster a personal and meaningful connection with every individual in the Escondido Jewish community and help each one find a sense of belonging.

HERE’S HOW:

We offer various programs and events designed to foster connection to ourselves, each other, and our shared heritage, with a focus on educational programs ranging from Preschool through Hebrew School to advanced Jewish learning classes for adults. We also host programs for children, women, professionals and families, as well as Shabbat and Holiday meals, events, and synagogue services.

Ultimately, we are here to help Escondido residents with anything they might need, be it physical or spiritual.

About Chabad

Chabad-Lubavitch is a philosophy, a movement, and an organization.

The philosophy is based on the continuous refinement and growth of one's intellectual understanding of the world. The movement promotes acceptance and love for every Jew. The organization is composed of thousands of institutions and even more individuals around the world dedicated to helping fellow Jews and doing acts of goodness and kindness.

Chabad Escondido is honored to join these ranks and continue to bring the Rebbe’s vision for connected world Jewry to life.

Our Team

MEET THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP CHABAD ESCONDIDO GOING

Rabbi Meir Friedman
Co-director

Rabbi Meir is a New York transplant who is deeply passionate about his Judaism. In the course of his Rabbinic training, Meir worked in Jewish outreach at Chabad centers in China, Australia, Venezuela, New Zealand, and all across the United States. His experience has taught him the importance of making every Jew feel welcomed, valued, and connected with their heritage in a meaningful way.

Meir is excited to serve the Jewish community of Escondido with anything they might need to further develop their Jewish identity and connection, from Torah classes to holiday services to Shabbat dinners and more.

You can usually find Meir playing with his kids, staying active with his favorite sports, or enjoying a chavruta (Torah study session) with a fellow Jew.

Meir received his Rabbinical ordination from Machon Lilmod Ule’Lamed in Brooklyn.

Chevy Friedman
Co-director

Chevy Friedman is a Brooklyn native who always dreamed of living somewhere with rolling mountains and endless sunshine. Lucky for her, Escondido offers all that and more. That’s not why she moved out here, though; her other lifelong dream has been to build a Jewish home where all are welcome.

Luckily, Escondido was just the right place for that, too.

Chevy’s childhood home was one that was warm, accepting, and welcoming of all, and today, she’s proud to continue the tradition at Chabad Escondido.

Chevy is passionate about connecting with others and spending time with her family. Her favorite place to be at golden hour is watching the sun set over the mountains. As a natural creative, you can find her practicing pilates or preparing delicious home-cooked meals for events, dinners, or even one-on-one dates.
